The program
How it works
The Entrepreneurship Program pairs Business School student ventures with alumni and business leaders who have built companies themselves. The program is coordinated, not automated.
For mentors
From application to the first request that reaches you.
- Apply
One form, filled in once. It asks where you can help, which venture stages you know well, and how many ventures you can take on at a time.
- Reviewed
A program coordinator reviews every application before anyone joins the network. There is no automatic approval.
- On your terms
Requests reach you only once a coordinator has judged them well-timed, and never more than the number of ventures you agreed to.
Your contact details are never published. If you can help, apply as a mentor.
For student ventures
From creating an account to the first introduction.
Any student with a miami.edu address can create an account and see the mentor network straight away. Creating an account is not the same as joining a cohort: Startup Lab enrolment runs through course registration, and a coordinator admits ventures to each cohort.
- Request
Ask for the mentors whose expertise fits what you need now. Every request explains what you are asking for and why now.
- Introduced
A coordinator reviews the request before it reaches the mentor, so introductions happen when your venture is ready for them.
There is no invitation to wait for: create your account with your miami.edu address. If you are working on a venture, start here.
Through the term
Each pairing agrees shared goals and meets on a regular cadence.
Coordinators follow every engagement, so a pairing that stalls is noticed early rather than at the end of the semester.
